I took only a few trips into Taunton and don't remember it being more than a divergence. It was just something to do to break up the monotony of the camp routine. To get back to the camp from town, we loaded up on the trucks in a courtyard of a large building. As we were leaving, the headlights of the trucks would sweep across the walls of the yard. They would pick up about a dozen GIs who had their British girl friends pinned up against the walls getting their last kisses goodnight and anything else they could maneuver in a standing position.
